Province creates 5-year plan to support haenyeo culture

The provincial government has drawn up a comprehensive plan to preserve the culture of local diving women.

Local officials will have budgeted 120 billion won for 69 projects over the next five years. The plans designed to preserve and enhance haenyeo culture.

The main goals are to gain designation for this unique facet of local culture as world agricultural heritage, establish a hall in honor of the island’s haenyeo, restore haenyeo heritage, support the haenyeo school, and improve the fishing environment for the diving women.

제주해녀문화 전승 5개년 기본계획 수립

제주특별자치도가 제주해녀문화의 보존과 전승을 위한 기본계획을 수립했습니다.

이번에 수립된 기본계획은 올해부터 2021년까지 5년간 사업비 1천 1천 200억원을 투입해 69개의 사업을 추진하는 내용을 골자로 하고 있습니다.

주요내용을 보면 세계중요농업유산 등재와 해녀의 전당 건립, 해녀유산 복원, 해녀학교 활성화, 조업환경 개선사업 등입니다.
