‘Small Statue of Peace’ erected at Shinseong Girls’ HS
Figure honors victims of wartime sexual slavery

Students at Shinseong Girls’ High School put up a Small Statue of Peace inside the school in honor of the victims of sexual slavery by the Japanese imperial army during World War II.

The student council raised funds from the students for the statue, collecting more than it needed.

The council donated the remaining money to the “House of Sharing,” where victims of the sexual slavery live.

신성여고, 작은 평화의 소녀상 건립

신성여자고등학교가 학교 내에 일본군 위안푸 피해자를 기리는 '작은 평화의 소녀상'을 세웠습니다.

이번 소녀상 건립은 학생자치회 주도로 전교생을 대상으로 자발적인 모금운동을 통해 진행됐습니다.

특히 학생자치회는 모금한 기금 가운데 소녀상 제작비를 제외한 나머지를 위안부 할머니 나눔의 집에 후원금으로 기탁했습니다.
