All central bus lanes now in use

Local traffic remained relatively smooth November 10th, when all of the island’s first central bus-only lanes were put into use.

2.7 kilometers of the lanes are now open between Gwangyang Intersection and Ara Elementary School.

Buses and taxis traveled the lanes relatively problem-free around the morning rush hour. Construction had been causing some traffic jams along the road, but those problems were also resolved to some degree.

There were some issues. Some bus passengers were confused about which stop to use. And there was some traffic congestion at the end of the central bus lanes, where buses tried to change lanes quickly.

대중교통 중앙차로 전면 개통…대체로 원활

대중교통 중앙우선차로가 오늘(10일)부터 전면 개통된 가운데 대체로 원활한 교통 흐름을 보였습니다.

제주도는 오늘부터 제주시 광양사거리에서 아라초등학교 사거리까지 2.7km 구간에서 대중교통 중앙차로제 시행에 들어갔습니다.

등굣길과 출근시간대에 버스와 택시 등은 대중교통 차로를 이용해 원활하게 운행했고, 종전 공사 등으로 지연되던 교통 체증도 어느정도 해소됐습니다.

다만 일부 버스 이용객들이 새로 조성된 정류장과 기존 정류장 사이에서 혼란을 빚었고

중앙차로 종료 지점에서 버스가 급하게 차선을 바꾸며 교통흐름이 다소 정체되기도 했습니다.
