Province plans to spend 13% more next year

The provincial government has submitted its 2018 budget to the provincial council.

It’s seeking nearly 5.03 trillion won - 13 percent more than this year.

This is the first time the province has sought more than one trillion won in welfare funding. The money is planned for child benefit payments, snacks at daycare centers, and transportation for child welfare teachers. It wants to boost the minimum childbirth grant from 200,000 to two million won for families who already have two or more children.

Culture spending accounts for 3.2 percent of the budget. The province plans to spend two billion won on converting vacant spaces into artists’ studios. It has earmarked 2.7 billion for a project designed to support local culture and art, and it wants to spend 600 million won on the production of so-called “global cultural content.”

제주특별자치도가 내년 예산으로 5조 297억원을 편성해 제주도의회에 제출했습니다.

이같은 예산은 올해 기정예산에 비해 13%, 5천 800억원이 늘어난 것입니다.

특히 아동수당과 어린이집 아동 간식비, 아동복지교사 교통비를 신설하고
출산장려금 지원을 둘째이상의 경우 최저 20만원에서 200만원으로 확대하는 등
복지예산을 처음으로 1조원 넘게 편성했다고 제주도는 설명했습니다.

또 유휴시설 문화예술창작공간 조성 20억원과 지역문화예술 특성화 지원사업 27억원, 글로벌 문화콘텐츠 제작지원 6억원 등 문화예산을 전체 예산의 3.2%를 편성했다고 덧붙혔습니다.
