2. Arrest warrant for suspect in 2009 murder dismissed
Judge says evidence is insufficient

A Jeju District Court judge has dismissed an arrest warrant for the main suspect in the 2009 murder of a local nursery school teacher.

Judge Yang Tae-kyeong said the submitted evidence didn’t meet the criteria for an arrest warrant on murder and sexual assault charges, even though there were serious doubts about the suspect’s explanations regarding the case.

The judge added that the microfilament submitted by the police as an exhibit in the case was similar, but not identical, to what was found at the scene.

The suspect denied the allegations against him during questioning May 18th.

보육교사 살인사건 피의자 영장 기각

어린이집 보육교사 살인사건의 피의자 박 모 씨에 대한 구속영장이 기각됐습니다.

제주지방법원 양태경 영장전담 부장판사는 어젯밤 (18일) 늦게 살인과 성폭행 등의 혐의를 받고 있는 박 씨에 대한 구속영장을 기각했습니다.

양 판사는 피의자의 주장이나 변명에 석연치 않은 점이 있긴 하지만 제출된 자료를 종합할 때 범죄사실에 대한 소명이 부족하다며 기각 이유를 설명했습니다.

특히, 경찰이 강조했던 미세섬유 증거물에 대해서는 감정결과가 동일한 것이 아니라 유사하다는 것에 그치고 있다고 덧붙였습니다.

한편, 박 씨는 어제(18일) 열린 영장실질심사에서 줄곧 혐의를 인정할 수 없고 억울하다며 혐의를 부인해 왔습니다.
