3. Province considering creating support center for local foods
Feasibility study will be complete by September

The province is working to enhance support for suppliers of locally-grown food.

It has commissioned the Korea Agricultural Economics Association to study the issue through this September.

Specifically, the association will study the feasibility of establishing an integrated support center for local food, as well as methods of using more of it to supply local schools and public institutions.

Provincial officials say this research is needed to help local food suppliers stay competitive as the island’s agricultural market continues to open.

제주특별자치도가 로컬푸드 육성 지원 방안을 마련합니다.

이를 위해 오는 9월까지 한국농업경제연구원에 용역을 의뢰합니다.

특히 통합지원센터 건립 방안의 타당성과 학교 또는 공공급식 공급 방안을 검토하게 됩니다.

제주도는 농산물 시장 개방이 확대되면서 지역차원의 먹거리 체계 구축을 강화하자는 차원에서 이번 용역을 추진하고 있다고 설명했습니다.
