‘Lost Villages, Forgotten Memories’ named one of March’s top TV programs

The Korea Communications Standards Commission has awarded KCTV Jeju for its program in honor of the 70th anniversary of the April 3rd Incident.

The commission selected “Lost Villages, Forgotten Memories” as one of the top programs in March. The award was announced in a Wednesday ceremony in Seoul’s Mok-dong Broadcasting Hall.

Commission representatives say the program, which focused on victims’ testimony, revealed the abuse of public power and the truth of the incident. They added that it offered a new perspective on the issue through its concentration on the villages that were destroyed, and thereby focused attention on the need for in-depth investigations into the tragedy.

KCTV 제주방송의 4.3 70주년 특별기획한 '잃어버린 마을, 잊혀진 기억'이 방송통신심의위원회의 이달의 좋은 프로그램으로 선정됐습니다.

방송통신심의위원회는 오늘 오후 서울 목동 방송회관에서 올해 3월 이달의 좋은 프로그램으로 선정된 KCTV 제주방송의 '잃어버린 마을, 잊혀진 기업' 등 6편에 대한 시상식을 개최했습니다.

방송통신심의위원회는 제주 4.3 사건 생존자들의 증언과 마을 탐사 등을 통해 공권력에 의해 벌어진 4.3사건의 참상과 진상을 규명했고 사라진 마을 공동체에 초점을 맞춰 새로운 시각에서 재조명함으로써 잃어버린 마을 등에 대한 실태조사와 연구의 필요성을 제시했다며 수상작 선정 이유를 밝혔습니다.
