2. Police arrest Chinese national for attempted robbery
Investigators say he impersonated police officer and targeted Chinese tourists

Officers from the Jeju Seobu Police Station have arrested a 24-year-old Chinese national surnamed Wu for attempted robbery.

Police say he came to Jeju, for which a visa is unnecessary, and targeted hotels popular with Chinese tourists. He wore a uniform similar to that worn by Chinese police officers, carried some sort of weapon, and attempted to steal valuables from his countrymen who were here visiting.

Police apprehended him after receiving a report.

Investigators say Wu confessed to the crime, saying he tried to rob the tourists by knocking on their hotel room door and then threatening them if they opened it for him.



공안 복장 강도 행각 중국인 구속

제주서부경찰서는 중국 공안 복장을 하고 중국 관광객을 상대로 강도 행각을 벌이려던 중국인 24살 우 모씨를 구속했습니다.

경찰에 따르면 무사증으로 제주에 온 우 씨는 흉기를 소지하고 중국인이 주로 투숙하는 호텔을 돌아 다니며 범행을 물색하다 신고를 받고 출동한 경찰에 붙잡혔습니다.

경찰 조사에서 우 씨는 객실 문을 두드리고 사람이 있으면 협박해 금품을 뺏으려 했다고 자백했습니다.
