Violators face fines up to \30m or up to 5 years behind bars

In more election news, officials are ramping up efforts to the public release of illegal public opinion polls.

The provincial election survey commission is keeping close tabs on Facebook, Band, and other social networks, as well as events being held around the island in order to clamp down on polls that are not registered on the national election survey commission’s website.

The release of unregistered poll results is punishable by a fine of up to 30 million won, while the release of distorted results from a poll can lead to a fine of up to 30 million won or a prison sentence of up to five years.
