3. Gangjeong residents oppose planned naval review
International event scheduled in October

The group of Gangjeong residents that opposed the construction of the naval base in their community recently held a press conference about a new issue of contention.

The association says it is against a planned October event in which vessels from a number of navies would parade in the waters near the base. It says that the hosting of the naval review would deepen the longstanding conflicts in the community.

The association has submitted questions to the island’s gubernatorial candidates about their stances on the hosting of the review and their plans to quote/unquote “recover the honor” of Gangjeong.

갈등은 더 심해질 것이라며 반대의 뜻을 밝혔습니다.

그러면서 제주도지사 선거에 나서는 후보들을 상대로 국제관함식에 대한 입장과
강정마을 명예회복을 위한 사업계획 공개 질의서를 제출했습니다.
