5. Province plans accident insurance for all residents
Everyone would be automatically covered

The provincial government plans to take out an accident insurance policy that covers people living on the island.

All residents, including non-Koreans who are registered living here, would be automatically insured, without the need to sign up. The policy would compensate victims of any accidents that happened anywhere, regardless of other insurance coverage.

Local officials will move ahead with the plan if the provincial council agrees to it this month.

제주특별자치도가 전 도민을 대상으로 안전 공제.보험 가입을 추진합니다.

제주도민은 물론 체류지를 제주로 등록한 외국인까지 별도의 신청 없이 자동적으로 가입되는 안전 공제보험은 전국 어디서나, 다른 보험 가입여부에 관계없이 각종 재난사고에 대한 보상을 받을 수 있게 됩니다.

제주도는 이같은 내용을 골자로 한 조례안이 이달 중 열리는 도의회 임시회에서 통과되면 내년부터 시행한다는 계획입니다.
