The Jeju April 3rd Peace Park has organized a special program to teach young children about the tragic April 3rd Incident in a way they can easily understand. Mike Balfour reports.

This is (북촌) Bukchon village in Jeju where the greatest number of residents were killed during the April 3rd Incident.

Students of the (북촌) Bukchon Elementary School visit the Jeju April 3rd Peace Park to learn about the island’s tragic historical event.

They color black crows to commemorate the victims of the incident.

A reconstruction of a cave shows how victims had to hide to survive.

Inside the cave, the young visitors begin to understand the sense of the desperation and urgency of the victims.

Animated films, illustrations and hands-on programs assist them to better understand the tragedy.

The children realize the importance of reconciliation and peace.
