2. KAIST moving research center to Jeju Science Park
Facility to develop electric vehicles, autonomous driving technology, etc.

The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology will move its research center for environmentally-friendly vehicles to the Jeju Science Park.

The Jeju Free International City Development Center signed an MOU last month with KAIST to develop science and technology infrastructure in Jeju. The relocation of the research center in the second half of this year is a direct result of that agreement.

The center will study and develop electric vehicles, environmentally-friendly car technology, and autonomous vehicle tech.

The JDC says it plans to both put a new traffic system developed by the center into use and create a testing area for electric vehicles in the Jeju Science Park.

한국과학기술원 카이스트의 친환경자동차연구센터가 제주첨단과학기술단지에 입주합니다.

제주국제자유도시개발센터는 지난달 카이스트와 체결한 과학기술인프라 발전 양해각서에 따른 후속 조치로 친환경자동차연구센터가 올 하반기에 입주한다고 밝혔습니다.

친환경자동차연구센터는 전기자동차, 친환경 자동차기술, 자율주행 기술 등을 연구.개발하게 됩니다.

JDC는 연구센터에서 개발한 신교통시스템을 실용화하고 첨단과기단지 2단지에
전기차 시범단지 조성 등을 추진할 계획입니다.
