4. Environment ministry approves Jeju’s sewage system plan
Expansion and updates to cost estimated \2.25t

The Ministry of Environment has approved Jeju’s plan to update and expand its sewage system.

Local authorities based their plan on an effective population, which includes residents and tourists, of 1.05 million people in the year 2035. The sewage system would need to process 428,000 tons of daily waste??1.8 times the current total.

The expansion of some sewage treatment plants and the installation and replacement of sewage pipes will cost an estimated 2.25 trillion won.

Authorities will plan to phase out the use of six treatment plants because because they are not needed.

제주광역하수도정비계획 환경부 승인

제주특별자치도의 광역 하수도 정비 기본계획이 환경부로부터 최종 승인되면서 하수처리장 증설 사업이 본격화 될 것으로 보입니다.

주요내용은 오는 2035년 상주인구와 관광인구를 105만명으로 잡고 이에 따른 하수처리용량을 지금보다 1.8배 많은 42만 8천톤으로 계획했습니다.

이에따라 공공하수처리장을 증설하고 오수.우수관로 신설 또는 교체 사업비로 2조 2천 500억원을 추산했습니다.

분류식 하수관로 보급에 따른 분뇨 반입량 감소로 도내 8개 분뇨 처리장 가운데
도서지역을 제외한 제주위생처리장 등 6곳을 단계적으로 폐쇄하기로 했습니다.
