The Jeju employment rate dropped last month compared to May 2017.

According to the Jeju branch of the Honam Regional Statistics Office, the May employment rate fell three percentage points over the year to 68.6 percent.

The rate in sectors such as agriculture, fishing, electricity, and communications rose, but not enough to offset losses in mining, construction, food service, and accommodations.

The non-economically active population increased by more than 14 percent over the same period due to more people staying home to perform housekeeping, child care, and other tasks.

지난달 제주지역 고용률이 하락했습니다.

호남지방통계청 제주사무소에 따르면 지난달 제주지역 고용률은 68.6%로 지난해 같은 기간에 비해 3%p 떨어졌습니다.

농어업과 전기, 통신업 취업자는 증가했지만 광공업과 건설업, 음식.숙박업의 취업자는 크게 감소했습니다.

여기에 가사와 육아 등으로 인한 비경제 활동 인구는 14% 이상 늘어난 것으로 집계됐습니다.
