4. Temporary closure of Seongpanak Trail
Summit hikers can take Gwaneumsa Trail June 25-July 31

Authorities have temporarily closed the Seongpanak Trail on Hallasan Mountain because of an increased risk of rockslides.

The Jeju World Heritage Center says hikers will be banned from the section between the Azalea Field Shelter and Baengnokdam while work is being done in the area.

From June 25th to July 31st, workers will break up five boulders that are at risk of falling. The smaller pieces will be either secured in the same area or allowed to safely roll down the incline.

Authorities say hikers can still make it to the summit during that time--they’ll just have to take the Gwaneumsa Trail.

한라산 성판악 탐방로 임시 통제

낙석 위험으로 한라산 성판악코스를 이용한 정상 등반이 당분간 통제됩니다.

제주도 세계유산본부는 한라산국립공원 성판악 등산로 주변 동능 낙석위험지 정비공사에 따라 오는 25일부터 다음달 31일까지 성판악 진달래밭 대피소에서 백록담 정상구간 탐방로를 통제한다고 밝혔습니다.

이번 정비공사는 낙석 위험이 있는 암석 5개를 작게 쪼개 그 자리에 안정시키거나 굴려 내리는 방식으로 진행됩니다.

성판악 탐방로가 통제되면 관음사 코스로만 백록담 정상 등반을 할 수 있게 됩니다.
