3. New commission to oversee governor’s implementation of electoral pledges
Former JNU president is chair of group

A commission has been formed to oversee the governor’s implementation of his electoral pledges.

Governor Won Hee-ryong hailed the commission’s foundation in a Tuesday press conference as the first step to keeping his promises.

The commission comprises eight subcommittees for the environment, transportation, and other issues as well as six special committees for topics such as youth and young adults, childcare, and conflict management. Former Jeju National University president Heo Hyang-jin chairs the commission, which includes members from all walks of life.

The commission will review the propriety and validity of Won’s commitments, and then draw up action plans to fulfill them. It will release that roadmap in August.

원희룡 지사의 민선 7기 공약 실천을 위한 도민화합공약실천위원회가 구성됐습니다.

원희룡 지사는 19일 제주도청 기자실에서 기자회견을 열고 공약실천 첫 걸음으로
각계각층 전문가와 도민이 참여하는 공약실천위원회를 출범시켰다고 밝혔습니다.

위원회는 환경과 도시교통 등 8개 분야 분과위원회와 청년과 보육, 갈등관리 등 6개 특별위원회로 구성됐으며 허향진 전 제주대 총장이 위원장을 맡았습니다.

위원회는 공약 적정성과 실천 타당성 등을 검토한 뒤 최종 실천계획을 확정해 8월 중 공개할 예정입니다.
