5. Clean bill of health for Jeju beaches
Officials test water, sand quality at 15 beaches

Officials say the water and sand at local beaches have tested clean of contaminants.

The Jeju Public Health and Environment Research Institute surveyed 16 local beaches??both those that are officially designated and those that aren’t. The lead and arsenic levels at all beaches fell well within safe levels, and no mercury was detected at any of the beaches.

All of the water samples tested safe, as well.

제주도내 해수욕장 백사장이 중금속 등 위험물질 안전기준에 적합한 것으로 나타났습니다.

보건환경연구원은 해수욕장 개장을 앞두고 도내 지정과 비지정 해수욕장 등
16곳에 대한 백사장 중금속 검사를 실시한 결과 납과 비소 등은 기준치 이하로 검출됐고 수은은 단 한 군데에서도 나오지 않았습니다.

모든 해수욕장 수질도 안전기준에 적합한 것으로 조사됐습니다.
