2. Police form task force to handle refugee issues
No crimes related to asylum seekers have been reported

In related news, local police have formed a task force to ensure public safety as the island plays host to hundreds of Yemenis here seeking asylum.

The police will beef up patrols around the areas where the refugees are staying and frequenting.

It will also work with the Korea Immigration Service on crime prevention classes for the Yemenis.

Finally, police will respond to any crime related to the asylum seekers as a Code 1 emergency.

Authorities have been called seven times for issues related to the refugees. Two reports were for noise complaints and three were for medical emergencies. None of the calls were related to crime.

경찰이 최근 급증한 제주지역 난민 유입과 관련해 제주지방경찰청 차장을 팀장으로 하는 태스크포스를 구성해 치안활동을 강화합니다.

이에 따라 경찰은 난민 신청자들이 단체로 묵고 있는 숙소와 주요 배회지를 중심으로 집중 순찰을 벌입니다.

또, 출입국외국인청과 함께 난민 신청자들을 대상으로 범죄예방교육도 실시합니다.

만약, 난민과 관련된 범죄에 대해서는 코드1을 발령해 신속 대응하기로 했습니다.

한편, 현재까지 예멘 난민과 관련된 112신고 건수는 모두 7건으로 유형별로는 소란행위 2건, 응급환자 3건 등 범죄와 관련된 건 없었습니다.
