Korea Airport Corporation modifying smoking facilities in 14 airports

The indoor smoking rooms at Jeju International Airport will be closed and the outdoor smoking rooms will be relocated.

The changes, which affect the rooms in the domestic and international terminals, follow the Korea Airports Corporation’s plan to modify smoking facilities in 14 of the nation’s airports.

The local airport was the only one in the nation to ask for a waiver to keep its indoor smoking rooms for domestic fliers. The KAC rejected the proposal, saying the same rule should apply to all airports.

KAC will remodel the smoking areas in phases, based on the specific circumstances at each airport.

당초 제주공항은 전국 공항 중 유일하게 국내선 실내 흡연실을 유지해야 한다는 의견을 냈지만 예외를 인정할 수 없다며 받아들여지지 않았습니다.

공항공사는 전국 공항 사정에 따라 단계별로 흡연실 개선 공사에 들어갈 예정입니다.
