2. Feasibility study for second airport will be redone
Posco E&C consortium will finalize basic plan for facility by next June

National authorities have decided to redo a feasibility study on the proposed location of the island’s second airport, and then draw up a basic plan for the facility.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has selected a consortium led by Posco E&C to complete the work by next June.

The feasibility study will have to be redone first. Over the next three months, the consortium will determine if the original researchers came to reasonable conclusions regarding airport infrastructure details, if they applied the proper criteria when analyzing potential sites for the airport, and if they used appropriate data in their study.

Once that is complete, researchers will review the location for the airport, the scale of the planned facility, funding methods for the project, and the planned support for area residents.

As the consortium draws up the basic plan for the airport, a review committee that includes opponents to the facility from Seongsan-eup will be formed. Researchers will keep that committee regularly updated on their work schedule and study results.

제2공항 입지선정 타당성 재조사 착수

제2공항 입지선정 타당성 재조사와 기본계획 용역이 본격 추진됩니다.

국토교통부는 용역업체로 포스코건설 컨소시엄을 최종 선정하고 내년 6월까지 1년 동안 용역에 들어간다고 밝혔습니다.

먼저 3개월 동안 진행하는 타당성 재조사는 공항 인프라 확충의 최적 대안을 선정할 당시의 분석이 적정한지를 비롯해 제2공항 입지평가 기준의 적정성, 입지평가에서 활용한 자료와 분석 결과의 적정성을 확인합니다.

타당성 재조사 이후 기본계획 수립 용역에 들어가면 예정지역 범위와 공항시설 규모, 재원조달 방안, 주민지원 방안을 검토할 예정입니다.

용역 과정에는 성산읍 반대대책위원회와 함께 검토위원회를 구성하고 연구 단계별 일정과 결과를 지역사회에 공개하기로 했습니다.
