3. Fishing ban on yellow corvina, hairtail
Violators face steep fines, prison

Beginning this month, fishermen are banned from fishing for yellow corvina and hairtail in local waters.

A revision to the fisheries management act bans all fishing for those species in all Jeju waters, including those around Marado.

Blue abalones are also off limits through next month, and conches are off limits in Chujado through September.

Violators face up to two years in prison or a fine of up to 20 million won.


제주 연근해 갈치·참조기 조업 금지

이달부터 제주 연근해에서 갈치와 참조기 조업이 금지됩니다.

개정된 수산자원관리법에 따라 갈치와 참조기는 이달 한 달 동안 마라도를 포함한
제주 전 해상에서 조업할 수 없습니다.

오분자기는 다음달까지, 소라는 9월까지 추자도 해상에서 잡지 못합니다.

포획 금지 규정을 위반하면 2년 이하 징역이나 2천만 원 이하 벌금형을 받게 됩니다.
