Presidential cabinet passes ordinance on Tuesday

April 3rd is now an official local holiday here in Jeju.

President Moon Jae-in and his cabinet passed an ordinance to designate the holiday during a Tuesday meeting.

The ordinance specifies the requirements and procedures for the holiday to commemorate the April 3rd Incident.

It has become the nation’s first holiday for a specific region.

제주 4.3 추념일이 지방공휴일로 확정됐습니다.

정부는 3일 문재인 대통령 주재로 열린 국무회의에서 지자체 지방공휴일에 관한 규정 제정안을 의결했습니다.

해당 규정에는 지자체의 지방공휴일 지정 요건과 절차 등이 명시돼 있습니다.

이에따라 제주 4.3 추념일이 지방공휴일로 확정됐으며 전국 지자체 가운데 첫 사례로 남게 됐습니다.
