4. Residential construction sector continues to contract
37% fewer permits issued in Q2 compared to last year

Local authorities continue to issue fewer residential construction permits.

Jeju City says it issued 980 permits in the second quarter??37 percent fewer than during the same period last year.

That followed a 44 percent dive in the first quarter of the year.

City officials say there are too many new houses that are overpriced and therefore remain unsold, and that’s what’s causing the construction slowdown.


주거용 건축허가 감소세 이어져

주거용 주택 건축허가가 계속해 감소하고 있습니다.

제주시에 따르면 올해 2분기 주택건축허가 건수는 980여 건으로 지난해 같은 기간보다 37% 감소했습니다.

지난 1분기에도 44% 줄어드는 등 올 상반기 내내 감소세가 이어지고 있습니다.

제주시는 주택공급 과잉과 비싼 분양가로 인한 미분양 주택이 증가하면서 건축허가가 줄고 있다고 설명했습니다.
