Athletes from 40 countries to compete July 18-24

Organizers say preparations are proceeding smoothly for the 2018 Jeju Korea Open International Taekwondo Championship.

The planning committee says the application acceptance process is running well for both domestic and foreign competitors, and that it has had success in recruiting volunteers for the event, which begins July 18th.

Organizers say that promotions at major taekwondo tournaments in Korea and overseas led to some 1,100 athletes from 40 countries signing up, as of Monday.

The championship runs from the 18th to the 24th at Jeju Halla Gymnasium.
There are three types of events: sparring, which is called (겨루기) kyorugi; poomsae; and color belts (겨루기) kyorugi.
Event winners will receive qualifying points for the Olympics.

2018 제주코리아오픈 국제태권도대회 준비가 순조롭게 이뤄지고 있습니다.

제주코리아오픈국제태권도대회조직위원회는 오는 18일 대회 개막을 앞두고 국내.외에서 참가 신청은 물론 자원봉사자 모집도 원활히 이뤄지고 있다고 설명했습니다.

특히 국내·외 주요 태권도대회에서의 유치활동을 통해 지난 2일 기준으로 전세계 40여 개국에서 1천 100여 명이 참가를 신청했다고 밝혔습니다.

오는 18일 개막해 24일까지 일주일간 제주한라체육관에서 열리는 제주코리아오픈국제태권도대회는 겨루기와 경연, 띠별 겨루기 등 3개 종목으로 치러지며 상위 입상자에 대해서는 올림픽 출전을 위한 점수가 부여됩니다.
