2. Province seeking new mayors for Seogwipo, Jeju City
Applications being accepted for 5 days beginning July 17

The provincial government will begin a five-day search July 17th for new mayors for both Seogwipo and Jeju City.

Eligibility is limited to level 2 civil servants with over three years of work experience or people with over four years at a non-profit.

The province will accept applications for the unelected positions, and then a committee will select two to three candidates for each. The governor will then make a final decision.

Both nominees will then need to pass a confirmation hearing at the provincial council. Their terms will be two years from the day they are appointed.

17일부터 민선 7기 행정시장 공모

제주특별자치도가 오는 17일부터 5일동안 제주시장과 서귀포시장을 전국에서 공개 모집합니다.

응모자격은 3년 이상 근무한 2급 상당 공무원이나 4년 이상 근무한 비영리민간단체 근무자 등 입니다.

제주도는 접수한 원서를 가지고, 선발시험위원회 심사를 거쳐 각각 두세 명의 후보자를 도지사에게 추천하고, 도지사는 이 가운데 한 명을 내정하게 됩니다.

특히 행정시장은 도의회의 인사청문을 실시한 후 최종 임용하는 절차를 거치게 되는데 임기는 임용일로부터 2년입니다.
