83 drug-related arrests over past 3 years

Provincial police have announced a crackdown on drug offenses that will last through the end of September.

Authorities have formed a special 19-member squad for the work. The group comprises the provincial drug squad and investigators from each of the island’s police stations.

It’s becoming increasingly easy for members of the general public to find illegal drugs through social media and other internet sites, so police plan to disrupt distribution channels through enhanced online monitoring.

Police have charged 83 people in Jeju for drug offenses over the past three years.

제주지방경찰청이 오는 9월까지 마약류 사범 집중 단속에 나섭니다.

이를 위해 지방청 마약수사대와 각 경찰서 형사팀 19명으로 단속반을 꾸립니다.

경찰은 특히 일반인들이 쉽게 접하기 쉬운 인터넷과 sns 등을 집중 모니터링해 마약 유통경로를 차단한다는 계획입니다.

최근 3년동안 제주지역에서 붙잡힌 마약사범은 83명에 달합니다.
