1. Growing number of Chinese tourists
Nearly 50,000 in May

The number of Chinese tourists visiting Jeju is on the upswing.

The provincial government puts the May tally at nearly 50,000. The January total was only around 30,000.

Of particular note: compared to the year before, arrivals surged 52.7 percent in April and 58 percent in May.

Provincial officials say an increasing number of Chinese vacationers are coming here on their own, rather than as part of large tour groups, and that local authorities are actively working to entice more visitors from our large neighbor to the east.

제주 찾는 중국인 관광객 매달 증가

올들어 제주를 찾는 중국인 관광객이 증가하고 있습니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면 지난 5월 중국인 관광객 수는 4만 9천여 명으로 올해 1월 3만 명에 비해 2만 명 가까이 늘었습니다.

특히 4월과 5월은 지난해 같은기간 대비 각각 52.7%와 58% 증가했습니다.

제주는 중국인 개별관광객이 증가하고 있다며 적극적인 관광객 유치에 나서겠다고 밝혔습니다 .
