2. 7 Yemeni asylum seekers granted permission to enter mainland
4 to be reunited with separated family members, 3 in critical health
Seven Yemeni asylum seekers... currently in Jeju... have been granted permission to leave the island and enter the mainland... by Seoul’s Justice Ministry.
A family of four, including a minor, will be reunited with separated family members, while another three will be transported out of Jeju for medical assistance as they are said to be in critical condition.
The humanitarian move comes just months after the Ministry decided in late April to ban asylum seekers from moving out of the island to other parts of Korea, so as to prevent social confusion.
Meanwhile, the results of the screening for Yemeni asylum seekers who entered Jeju this year are expected to be released within this month.
