3. 1,000 new Korean Fir trees on Hallasan
Jeju World Heritage Center to plant seedlings July 19

1,000 Korean Fir trees will be planted on the (영실)Youngsil trail on Hallasan Mountain this week by the Jeju World Heritage Center.

The move is part of efforts to restore the species’ habitat. A Hallasan research team began cultivating the seedlings seven years ago. 1,000 of these young Korean Fir trees will be planted on July 19th.

Based on results of this effort, the province will develop a manual on how to restore habitats for the species.

Researchers say 90 percent of the Korean Fir trees planted in 2017... at an altitude of 1,640 meters... have survived.

3. 구상나무 1천그루 19일 한라산 식재

제주도 세계유산본부가
오는 19일, 한라산 영실 등산로
일대에 구상나무 1천 그루를 심습니다.

한라산 구상나무 자생지 복원을 위해
추진되는 이번 행사에는
한라산연구부에서 지난 7년 동안
자체 증식한 구상나무 묘목 1천그루가
심어집니다.

제주도는
시험 식재한 구상나무 생존율 등을
파악해 구상나무 복원 매뉴얼을
개발할 계획입니다.

지난해 해발 1630미터 일대에
심어진 구상나무는 현재 90% 이상의
생존율을 보이고 있습니다.
