Designation terminates in 2020 under Sunset Law

The designation of undeveloped city parks will expire in 2020… and is expected to cost over 700 billion won.

According to the provincial government, 43 city park designations will be terminated in 2020. This will incur an estimated 743 billion won in compensation and facility fees for the provincial government.

Under the Sunset Law, city park designations cease to have effect if left undeveloped for 20 years.

Governor Won Hee-ryong expressed concern over the possibility this could lead to sprawling development, and stressed the need to secure funding through the issuance of municipal bonds or consider consigning the work to private organizations.

2020년 일몰제로 해제되는
도시공원 매입에 7천억 원이 넘는
보상비가 필요한 것으로 나타났습니다.

제주특별자치도는
2020년 일몰제로 해제되는
도시 공원지구는 43개소이며
보상비와 시설비 등으로
7천 340억 원이 필요하다고
밝혔습니다.

원희룡 지사는
일몰제로 공원지구에서 해제되면
난개발 문제가 우려될 수 있다며
지방채 발행 같은 재원 확보 방안을 비롯해
필요하면 민간 위탁도 검토해야 한다고
강조했습니다.
