2. Education chief opposes expansion of CSAT
Lee says it is not the way forward for Korea’s education

Superintendent of the Jeju Educational Office, (이석문)Lee Seok-mun, has expressed his opposition to the expansion of the College Scholastic Ability Test, better known as (수능)Suneung.

The superintendent said during a press conference Tuesday that selecting students mainly based on the (수능)Suneung was not the way forward for Korea’s education.

(이)Lee stressed that the expansion of the test would only deepen disparity between regions, and dwarf general high schools, while only a select few schools would benefit.

He is also expressed his concern over the emphasis placed on certain subjects over others, as this could lead to classes reverting to rote learning and question solving.

특정 지역·학교에 유리하게 작용해 일반고를 위축시킨다고
강조했습니다.

또 특정 과목 쏠림현상이 강화돼
문제풀이식 수업으로 돌아갈 수 있다고 우려했습니다
