1. Excavations around airport resume next week
388 bodies were found in 2007-2008

The remains of the April Third Incident victims around Jeju International Airport will be excavated from July 23rd.

The April Third Peace Foundation said it will start exhumations from next Monday… following an on-site study that ended Wednesday.

The excavations will take place on 10,000 square meters of land on the airport runway, and is due to be completed by November.

In 2007 and 2008, 388 victims’ bodies were discovered around the airport. Only a quarter of the bodies have been identified.

제주국제공항 4.3 희생자 유해발굴 조사가
23일부터 본격적으로 실시됩니다.

제주4.3 평화재단은
18일 공항 유해발굴 대상지역 현장조사를
마쳤고 23일부터 본 발굴 조사에 들어간다고 밝혔습니다.

발굴 대상지역은
공항 남북활주로 일대 1만 제곱미터로
발굴조사는 11월까지 진행될 예정입니다.

지난 2007년과 2008년 두차례 조사에서
희생자 유해 388구가 수습됐습니다.
