National and police officials find no evidence in support of media claims

National authorities say none of the Yemeni asylum seekers in Jeju are sleeping in the open.

Ministry of Justice representatives say they have looked into the situation and determined that, contrary to some media reports, all roughly 460 of the Yemenis are either staying at a support center or other lodgings.

Police say they have received no reports of them staying in the open, nor have they found any evidence of such.

In related news, officials say that 228 of the Yemenis are now working. That’s 40 percent fewer than last month.

법무부 "난민신청 예멘인 노숙 없어"

법무부가 현재 제주에 머물고 있는 예멘 난민 신청자들 가운데 노숙자는 없는 것으로 확인됐다고 밝혔습니다.

제주에 체류하고 있는 예멘 난민 신청자들의 현황을 파악한 결과 460여 명 모두 지원센터나 숙소에 머물고 있고 일부 언론이 밝힌 노숙자는 없다고 설명했습니다.

경찰 역시 지금까지 예민인들 노숙 관련 신고는 접수되지 않았고 자체적으로 파악하고 있는 노숙 사례도 없다고 밝혔습니다.

한편 제주에 체류하는 예멘인들 가운데 일자리를 갖고 있는 사람은 228명으로 지난달보다 40% 가까이 줄어들었습니다.
