4. World Taekwondo Hanmadang begins July 28
3,500 competitors from 62 nations

The Jeju Korea Open International Taekwondo Championship has drawn to a close just as the island gears up to host the World Taekwondo Hanmadang 2018, which begins Saturday.

The event runs through July 31st at Halla Gymnasium. Some 35-hundred athletes representing 62 nations will compete.

There are 11 events, broken down by age into 46 categories.

They showcase a variety of aspects of the martial art, from poomsae to power breaking to sparring.

Beginning on the 28th, KCTV Jeju will air the opening ceremony and the main events live.

2018 제주 세계태권도한마당이 오는 28일 개막합니다.

31일까지 나흘 동안 한라체육관에서 열리는 이번 대회에는 세계 62개국, 3천 500여 명이 출전해 11개 종목, 46개 부문에서 경연을 펼칩니다.

특히 겨루기 중심에서 벗어나 품새와 격파, 태권체조 등 태권도가 지닌 다양한 멋을 뽐내게 됩니다.

KCTV제주방송은 28일 개회식을 시작으로 태권도한마당 주요 경기를 생중계할 예정입니다.
