Prices haven’t changed since 2012

Private educational institutes in Jeju want to charge more for their services.

The Jeju Office of Education says the Jeju branch of the Korea Association of Hakwon submitted a plan to increase tuition by an average of 8.4 percent.

Association members say they haven’t raised prices since 2012, and that the higher rent and labor costs mean they have no choice but to start charging more.

The office has agreed to the plan, which was ironed out by a committee of institute representatives, parents, and education experts, but it has yet to officially announce the higher fees.

제주시교육지원청에 따르면 한국학원총연합회 제주도지회는 최근 학원 교습비를
평균 8.4% 인상하는 내용의 조정안을 제출했습니다.

지난 2012년 이후 6년간 동안 교습비가 동결됐고 임대료와 인건비 등이 상승해 인상이 필요하다는 입장입니다.

제주시교육지원청은 최근 학원과 교습소, 학부모 대표, 교육전문가가 참여하는
조정위원회를 열어 조정안을 의결했지만 아직까지 인상률을 공개하지 않고 있습니다.
