1. ‘Jeju should be special zone for blockchain technology’
Governor to announce proposal in August meeting

Governor Won Hee-ryong will soon officially suggest designating Jeju as a special zone for blockchain technology.

He will make his proposal August 8th at the Sejong Convention Center during an “innovative economy” meeting with other governors and government leaders.

Governor Won’s plan includes revising regulations related to cryptocurrencies.

Before making his proposal, he will visit Switzerland. Some communities there are trying to develop themselves into hubs for blockchain technology. The governor wants to learn more about how the Swiss are regulating and commercializing blockchains.


원 지사 "제주 블록체인 특구 지정 건의"

원희룡 지사가 제주를 블록체인 특구로 지정해 주도록 정부에 공식 건의합니다.

원 지사는 다음달 8일 세종시 세종컨벤션센터에서 열리는 혁신경제관계장관과 시도지사 연석회의에 참석해 이같은 내용을 공식 건의할 예정입니다.

이와 함께 암호화폐 규제개혁방안도 함께 포함한다는 구상입니다.

원 지사는 이에 앞서 세계블록체인의 발상지인 스위스를 찾아 블록체인 제도화와 산업화에 대한 벤치마킹에 나설 예정입니다.
