The provincial government is again planning to charge the owners of large buildings for the traffic congestion the structures cause.

Provincial officials will hold public hearings Friday in Seogwipo and Jeju City on the proposal, which was tailored to the island’s specific needs.

The plan now is to charge the owners of buildings of less than 3,000 square meters 350 won per square meter every year. Larger buildings under 30,000 square meters in size will be subject to 1,100 won per square meter, and the owners of the largest structures will pay 1,600 won per square meter every year.

If the council passes the bill, it will go into effect next year.

제주형 교통유발부담금 재추진…금주 공청회

제주특별자치도가 교통체증을 유발하는 대형건물에 교통유발부담금을 부과하는 방안을 다시 추진합니다.

이를 위해 다음달 3일 제주시와 서귀포시에서 제주형 교통유발부담금 제도 도입에 따른 도민 공청회를 개최합니다.

현재 제주도가 마련한 안은 3천 제곱미터 미만은 1제곱미터당 350원, 3천 제곱미터 이상, 3만 제곱미터 미만은 1천600원으로 책정했습니다.

제주도는 조례안이 의회를 통과하면 내년에 시행할 계획입니다.
