Popular event: catching flatfish by hand
And on Sunday from 1 p.m. kids can grab their pencils and crayons for an ocean-themed drawing competition. From 3 p.m. is a very popular competition where visitors don waders and gloves and try to catch flatfish by hand.
Pyoseon Beach, which is one of the largest in Korea, is of course famous for its titular white sand, which is composed of broken seashells.
It’s a beautiful location with a surrounding pine forest providing shade to beachgoers. The blue green water, black basalt walls, and carved haenyeo statues leave no doubt that visitors are on lovely Jeju.
