1. Electric energy demand hits new record
949,000 kW on Monday

Energy demand in Jeju has hit a new record, just ten days after the previous one was set.

The Jeju branch of the Korea Power Exchange says demand peaked at 949,000 kilowatts at 6 PM Monday.

Demand is expected to grow even more as forecasters say the heat will continue through the end of the month.

Exchange representatives say they are not yet concerned about power shortages??the island has 253,000 kilowatts of backup power, and only about 26 percent of it has been used.

제주 전력 사용량 올여름 최고치 경신

제주지역 전력 사용량이 열흘만에 올 여름 최고치를 갈아 치웠습니다.

전력거래소 제주지사에 따르면 6일 저녁 6시 기준 제주 최대 전력수요량은 94만 9천 kW로 열흘전 최대 사용량을 경신했습니다.

특히 이번달까지 폭염이 이어질 것으로 예보되면서 전력사용량은 앞으로도 크게 증가할 것으로 예상됩니다.

전력거래소는 예비 전력이 25만 3천 kW에 예비율은 26%로 아직 여유 있는 상황이라 밝혔습니다.
