3. More ‘survival swimming’ training planned for children
Proposal from 3 provincial council members increases program funding

Elementary schools will likely soon be giving students more swimming lessons.

Provincial council members (강시백) Gang Si-beak, (송창권) Song Chang-gwon, and Kim Chang-sik, have given advance notice of a revision to the local education ordinance on “survival swimming” training.

The revision stipulates more funding for swimming instructors and pool facilities as well as expanded training for classroom teachers.

The office of education enacted the swimming ordinance in 2016 to boost survival swimming training in local schools.

초등학교에서의 생존수영교육이 보다 활성화될 전망입니다.

제주도의회 강시백, 김창식, 송창권 의원은 초등학생 생존수영 교육 지원 조례 개정안을 입법예고했습니다.

개정안에는 생존수영교육 종사자와 수영장 시설 확보 예산 지원, 교사 연수 확대 등이 명문화됐습니다.

제주도교육청은 초등학교 생존수영교육을 활성화하기 위해 지난 2016년 지원 조례를 제정해 시행하고 있습니다.
