1. Province announces financial support for hairtail fishermen

Fishermen are having problems storing all the hairtails they’re catching in recent days, so the provincial government will help pay to ship the fish by sea to other destinations.

Local officials say the province will temporarily pay to ship the fish so that fishermen can get their catch quickly to cold storage facilities in other areas of the country.

The province has earmarked 50 million won for the initiative.

Officials have also said they plan to expand the cold storage facilities here on the island next year to ensure there’s enough space to store local seafood.

갈치 유통 해상물류비 일시 지원

최근 어획량 급증으로 보관에 어려움을 겪는 어업인들을 위해 갈치 해상운송 물류비가 일시적으로 지원됩니다.

제주도는 다른 지역 냉동창고로 갈치를 긴급 이송해 보관할 수 있도록 한시적으로 해상운송물류비를 지원한다고 밝혔습니다.

이를 위해 지방비 5천만 원을 긴급 편성했다고 덧붙였습니다.

또 내년에는 안정적인 수산물 보관을 위해 냉동창고 시설을 확충해나갈 방침입니다.
