Superintendent of ed. opposes plan to give more weight to CSAT scores

The island’s top education official opposes the National Education Committee’s plan to give more weight to College Scholastic Ability Test scores in university admissions.

Lee Seok-mun expressed his concerns about the committee’s proposal during a Monday planning meeting at the provincial office of education.

He said the plan runs counter to other policies that place more of an emphasis on high school academic records and that are designed to prepare students for the fourth industrial revolution. Lee added that placing more emphasis on the CSAT may amount to a step backward for the nation’s education system.

이석문 제주도교육감이 2022학년도 대학입시에서 수능 위주의 전형 비율을 늘릴 것을 권고한 국가교육회의의 결정에 대해 반대 입장을 밝혔습니다.

이 교육감은 13일 오전 제주도교육청에서 열린 기획조정회의에서 국가교육회의가 정시 비율 확대를 골자로 한 대입제도개편안 권고안을 발표했다면서 이에 대해 우려한다고 말했습니다.

특히 수능 전형 확대는 4차 산업혁명 시대에 대비해 추진하는 고등학교 학점제와 수업.평가 혁신 등의 정책과 배치돼 우리 교육을 과거로 돌릴 수 있다고 덧붙였습니다.
