5. Posthumous awards for 5 independence fighters from Jeju
Island now has 168 official independence patriots

In honor of the nation’s 73rd Liberation Day Wednesday, five independence fighters from Jeju were posthumously awarded for their patriotic efforts.

Provincial officials say the national government awarded (김시범) Kim Si-beom the (애족장) Aejokjang. Seoul gave presidential citations to (강태하) Kang Tae-ha, (신계선) Shin Gye-seon, (조무빈) Jo Mu-bin, and (한백흥) Han Baek-heung.

This brings the number of officially recognized independence patriots in Jeju to 168, including (강태선) Kang Tae-seon, who is still alive.

제주 독립운동가 5명, 애족장·표창 추서

제73주년 8.15 광복절을 앞두고 제주 출신 독립운동가 5명에게 애족장과 대통령 표창이 추서됩니다.

제주도는 정부가 독립운동가 고(故) 김시범 선생에게 애족장을, 고 강태하 선생과 고 신계선 선생, 고 조무빈 선생, 고 한백흥 선생에게는 대통령 표창을 각각 추서했다고 밝혔습니다.

이로써 제주출신 독립유공자는 생존한 애국지사인 강태선 선생을 비롯해 모두 168명으로 늘었습니다.
