4. Crackdown on seafood origin labeling
Inspectors checking products at traditional markets

Authorities are strengthening inspections of seafood origin labeling in the run up to the Chuseok holidays.

The provincial government is focusing on items typically used in Chuseok rites or given as holiday gifts. It is cracking down on both mislabeled and unlabeled products at traditional and five-day markets through September 23rd.

Authorities last year uncovered five cases of seafood without origin labeling. The violators were fined 1.68 million won.

추석을 앞두고 수산물에 대한 원산지 단속이 강화됩니다.

제주특별자치도는 오는 23일까지 전통시장이나 오일시장 등을 대상으로 제수용 또는 선물용 수산물의 원산지 허위나 미표시행위를 중점 단속합니다.

지난해의 경우 원산지 미표시 5건을 적발해 과태료로 168만원을 부과한 바 있습니다.
