Local high school students hoping to get into design, modeling, and similar jobs recently got the chance to learn more about their dream professions. Here’s Joseph Kim with more.

High school students stand still against the wall and stare straight ahead like professional models.

The instructor teaches proper posture and where to look to each student.

In another room, a design class for practical use is underway.

The students are mesmerized by the class.

The vocal exercise stimulates the students' curiosity.

They try not to miss any words made by the professional voice actor.

Hansung University organizes career education program

A university specializing in design has organized the career education program for Jeju students.

The program includes classes for fashion models, voice actors, web coders and ad designers.

The program was very popular to local students who scarcely have access to this kind of event.

More than 300 students applied to participate.

High interest in program

However, due to limited space, the number of participants was capped to 150 on a first-come-first-served basis.

Many of those who could not attend the event feel disappointed.

Education office, Hansung to run program next year

The provincial Office of Education is organizing the next career education program in cooperation with (한성) Hansung University next year as well.

The popular event, however, reveals drawbacks of career education programs by the education office at the same time. A student satisfaction and demand survey is necessary to better reflect their needs.
