4. Only 40% of rural guesthouses receive security certification
Many lack adequate CCTV systems, alarm bells

Local officials have certified the security of about four out of every ten rural guesthouses that applied for the new certification.

Jeju City received applications from 81 rural accommodations. Eight withdrew voluntarily from the process. Officials then certified 31 of the applicants, based on written evaluations and on-the-spot inspections.

That means only 38 percent were certified. Of those that were not, most were not adequately equipped with crime-prevention CCTV security cameras and alarm bells.

Certified guesthouses will be given priority when the government distributes tourism development funding, and they will be promoted through official websites.

농어촌민박 안전인증 40%만 '적합 판정'

올해 처음 농어촌민박 안정인증제가 추진되고 있는 가운데 신청한 10개 업소 가운데 4곳만이 적합 판정을 받았습니다.

제주시가 지난달 처음으로 농어촌민박 안전인증 지정에 따른 신청을 받은 결과 81개소가 접수했으며 이 가운데 8곳은 자진포기했고 나머지에 대해 서면평가와 현장조사를 거쳐 31개소의 적합업소를 선정했습니다.

최초 신청 업소의 38%에 지나지 않는 것입니다.

부적합 판정을 받은 업소는 범죄 예방 분야의 CCTV와 비상벨 설치 미흡이 대부분을 차지했습니다.

제주시는 해당 업소에 대해 관광진흥기금을 우선 알선하고 홈페이지를 통해 민박 홍보를 지원하게 됩니다.
