4. Crackdown on drivers in bus lanes
Fines of up to \60,000 begin with 3rd violation

Authorities will start cracking down October 10th on motorists who use bus lanes inappropriately.

The provincial government says it has gained the authority to restrict vehicle operation through the Jeju Special Law.

Authorities will be focusing on central bus lanes, as well as those on the side of the road. First time offenders will be given guidance on the new rules. They will receive a warning the second time, and drivers will face fines of up to 60,000 won beginning with the third violation.

Between January and August, an average of 176 vehicles per day violated the rules.

10월 10일부터 대중교통 우선차로 단속

그동안 여러차례 번복됐었던 대중교통 우선차로 단속이 10월 10일부터 실시됩니다.

제주특별자치도는 자동차 운행 제한 권한을 제주특별법으로 이양받게 되면서
10월 10일부터 위반 차량을 단속한다고 밝혔습니다.

단속 구간은 버스 중앙차로와 가로변 차로로 1차 위반은 계도, 2차는 경고, 세차례 연속 적발부터 최대 6만 원의 과태료가 부과됩니다.

한편 지난 1월 8개월 동안 우선차로제 시범 단속 결과 하루 평균 176대의 위반 차량이 적발됐습니다.
