Labor union of civil servants say some hired after elections ‘unqualified’

A labor union representing civil servants is demanding that some of the people hired by the local government after the recent elections be dismissed from their positions because of alleged irregularities in the hiring process.

The Jeju branch of the national union held a press conference Monday at the provincial office. Representatives claimed that some of the people who were hired through the public job search got their positions because of politics.

Union representatives say they doubted whether the new hires were subject to the proper hiring process and whether they are truly qualified for the jobs they got.

They are demanding that Governor Won Heeryong dismiss everyone who was improperly hired through the public search for new civil servants. Union representatives also say the audit commission must monitor the entire hiring process through such searches.

"개방형공모제 철회…선거공신 면직시켜야"

공무원 노조가 민선 7기 개방형 공모제가 일부 선거공신의 논공행상 수단이 되고 있다며 공모제 철회를 요구했습니다.

전국공무원노동조합 제주지역본부는 1일 도민의 방에서 기자회견을 열고 선거공신으로 볼 수 밖에 없는 일부 인사들이 개방형 직위를 통해 채용되고 있다고 주장했습니다.

특히 개방형공모제 신청자들이 제대로된 채용 심사를 거쳤고 채용 기준에 적합한 자격과 자질을 갖췄는지 의문스럽다고 말했습니다.

공무원노조는 원희룡 지사에게 선거공신 인사를 즉시 면직시키고 감사위원회는
개방형 직위 채용 전 과정에 대해 특별 감사를 시행해야 한다고 강조했습니다.
