1. Number of domestic travelers to Jeju drops
3.6m visit in Q2, down 0.4%

The number of domestic travelers to Jeju has started to decrease for the first time in four years.

According to the Jeju branch of the Bank of Korea, 3.6 million people visited Jeju in the second quarter of this year, falling 0.4 percent from last year.

The number of domestic travelers has fallen for the first time in four years since the second quarter of 2014. This decreasing trend continued even during the peak tourist season between July and August.

The Jeju branch of the BOK analyzed the declining domestic tourist trend is due to the growing demand for overseas travels and the saturated capacity of Jeju International Airport.



제주 방문 내국인 관광객 4년 만에 감소

제주를 찾는 내국인 관광객이 4년 만에 감소세로 전환됐습니다.

한국은행 제주본부에 따르면 올해 2분기 제주를 방문한 내국인 관광객은 360만명으로 지난해 같은 기간보다 0.4% 줄었습니다.

내국인 관광객이 줄어든 것은 지난 2014년 2분기 이후 4년 만으로 관광 성수기인 7~8월에도 감소세가 이어진 것으로 나타났습니다.

한국은행 제주본부는 해외여행 수요 증가와 함께 제주공항의 항공기 수용 능력이 포화 상태에 이른 점도 요인으로 분석했습니다.
